KC Group celebrated Lohri with fervor and joy

Lohri is one of the popular festivals celebrated by the Punjabi People. Lohri falls in mid-January and it is celebrated to bid good bye to the cold season. The earth, farthest from the sun at this point of time, starts its journey towards the sun, thus ending the coldest month of the year, Paush, and announcing the start of the month of Magh. Punjabis usually have Lohri celebrations in their houses. Lohri rituals are performed with the accompaniment of special Lohri songs.

As part of Punjabi Community and showing respect to its culture, KCGI celebrated the Lohri festival in its Campus. Students and Staff celebrated the festival with great enthusiasm and organized cultural function also. A huge bonfire was lit by Brig. HS Bhandal, CEO KCGI and College Principals to mark the festival. Students sang traditional songs and livened up the atmosphere.

As per the festival's rituals Brig. Bhandal, CEO KCGI, on the behalf of KC fraternity congratulated the newly married staff members and also wished the KC employees who have been blessed with baby last year. Addressing the gathering, Brig. Bhandal said, such celebrations promote brotherhood among the employees of an institution. He said that awareness should be created about the decreasing sex ratio, and the girl child should be equally welcomed in the family. He also highlighted the religious, social and historical importance of the day and its significance in the context of Indian cultural heritage.

The students and Staff enjoyed groundnuts and sweets in the warmth of the bonfire. Students were dressed up in colorful traditional Punjabi dresses, the boys and girls presented a lively show with folk songs, Giddha and Bhangra. An eye catching bonanza of dances Mehndi Mehndi Giddhe wich Nachdi, Kyon aage piche Dolte Ho left the audience fascinated.

The Principals of KCGI, present in the event also wished Happy Lohri to all students and staff.
