15th International My Tree Day is on the last Sunday of July

Deputy Commissioner gave tips to students to take care of environment

200 saplings planted in KC Campus

200 saplings were planted under the campaign to celebrate 15th International My Tree Day by performing Triveni Puja at International Sacred Landmark of Go Green International Organization established in KC Group of Institutions, Nawanshahr.

Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa, ADC Rajeev Verma, Assistant Commissioner Gurleen Kaur (Field Officer to Chief Minister Punjab), Chairman of KC Group Prem Pal Gandhi, Founder of GGIO Er Ashwani Joshi were specially present to perform the Puja at the holy Triveni. Group Campus Director Dr. Avtar Chand Rana, Youth Director of GGIO and Head of Management College Ankush Nijhawan, Principal of Hotel Management Dr. Baljit Kaur, Principal Dr. Kuljinder Kaur, Engr. Harpreet Kaur, Principal of KC Public School Asha Sharma along with the entire staff of the college also joined.

In KC campus 200 saplings were planted by the volunteers of NSS unit towards the occasion of My Tree Day. DC Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa told the students and staff that even in the countries where it was impossible to plant trees on desert land, people have reduced the temperature of their countries by planting trees by themselves.

He said that we all have to reduce the temperature of our area and increase rainfall by planting trees and taking care of them. DC Randhawa said that Triveni has great importance in our culture, medicine and Ayurveda. Trees provide clean air, food and shade to humans, while they provide food, shelter and living to birds. Therefore, it is our duty to plant a tree on every memorable day and take care of it. Dr. A.C. Rana told that on this international sacred landmark, renowned environmentalist and present Rajya Sabha member Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal, KC Group Chairman Prem Pal Gandhi and GGIO founder Engr. Ashwani Joshi along with their environmental supporters had planted a memorable Triveni in July 2010. Since then, GGIO has been working on the philosophy of organizing oxygen langar for people by planting trees. It is worth mentioning that before the year 2010, all the days we celebrated on a global level or all the global organizations were controlled by foreign countries. Keeping this in mind, environmentalist Ashwani Kumar Joshi, with the help of his environmentalist intellectuals, founded Go Green International Organization and started celebrating International My Tree Day in India on the last Sunday of July in 2010. This day is now celebrated all over the world on the last Sunday of July. Due to the awareness efforts of GGIO, lakhs of people have adopted voluntary plantation and hundreds of social organizations are planting trees. On this occasion, DC, ADC, Chairman of KC Group, Campus Director and environmentalist Ashwani Joshi also planted memorable saplings of Amla, Jamun, Guava, Jarkanda, Toon, Kadam etc.
