The Department of Electrical Engineering at KCCEIT is recognized among the leading Institutes in Electrical Engineering in the country. The Department offers B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering. The B.Tech curriculum has been designed such that the students have to undertake a judicious mix of basic as well as advanced course in Electrical Engineering.


Besides giving a thorough grounding in basic sciences and engineering subjects the curriculum in Electrical Engineering lays emphasis on deep understanding of electrical and electronics networks and devices electromagnetic field theory, computer fundamentals, control system and instrumentation, electrical energy converters and electrical energy transmission and distribution systems, including their protection and communication and control systems, etc

ABOUT EE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Electrical Engineering started with intake of 30, as per AICTE File No: 06/04/PUN/ENGG/2004/2009. The department has grown-up considerably and has become a role-model to set the bench mark.

The mission of the Electrical Department is to enhance knowledge and educate students in latest technologies used in industry and power sector. We are committed to generate, disseminate and preserve knowledge and to use it to bear the world's great challenges. The labs of electrical engineering departments are well equipped with latest equipment’s/tools/instruments and machines to cater to the requirements of engineers and researchers.


Electrical Engineering Labs

Ø Department is having well equipped labs which are sufficient enough to conduct, experiments as per university syllabus..

The department of Electrical Engineering boasts of ultra-modern labs with state of art equipment for carrying out the practical sessions for the students. The various labs possessed by the department are as under:

1. Basic electrical & Electronics Engineering Lab.

The objective of this lab is to give the basic practical knowledge in the field of electrical and electronics Engg. and to develop the students' ability to apply the specific procedures to analyze the fundamentals of electrical and electronics Engg. systems.

This lab covers the basic topics like RLC circuits, Line and phase voltage and line and phase current relationship in case of star and delta systems, 3 phase induction motor,various tests on transformer, Different methods to control the speed of dc motor. Study of different gates, LVDT, different types of indicating instruments and semi conductor devices

2. Power System Lab.

Power is the need of hour, so this lab is the one which satisfies this demand i.e-it prepares the students for the careers in power sector. Today power system has become a vast field which deals with switchgear, protection and various switching devices. In our power system lab we have the availability of static and electromechanical relays for study. Besides this, transformer oil testing facilities are also available for the students.

3. AC & DC Machine Lab.

The objective of AC & DC Lab is to familiarize the student with various Electrical Machinery and improve upon their knowledge. Electrical Machines Labs consist of latest D.C. & A.C. machines to perform various tests viz. starting, speed control, O.C. & S.C. test, Hoppkinson's test, Scott connection, parallel connections of different machines, suitable starters and loading arrangements for machines, measuring instruments of all types needed for the laboratory experiments.

The Electrical Machines Labs are utilized by all branches for their lab work and project work. Besides, the faculty members can utilize the facilities for their research.

The Lab houses Electrical Machine Lab-I as well as Electrical Machine Lab-II as per course curriculum.

4. Power Electronics Lab.

The main objective of power electronics lab is to make the students familiar with latest technologies, that are based on solid state devices( like Thyristors, UJT and MOSFET’s with triggering modules). This provides the basic practical knowledge like thyristorised speed control of dc and induction motors, control of frequency using cycloconverter and application of power electronics in electrical drives and machines.

The applications or power devices are in alarm circuit, lamp flasher, rectifiers, choppers, inverters. It is also used for commutation circuits.

5. Electrical Measurements and Measuring Instruments Lab.

The main objective of this lab is to make students familiar with latest electrical measuring instruments and to provide the basic knowledge of measurement to understand working of other instruments used for the measurement of other electrical quantities.

This lab includes instruments for measuring resistances, inductances, capacitance which includes wheatstone, Kelvin, Maxwell ,Anderson,Schering bridges.This also provides basic knowledge of principle Electromechanical instruments and frequency and phase measurements.

6. CAPSA LAB.

After theoretical part, analysis of that thing is the important part of our study, so this lab provides insight into computer aided techniques of power system networks. This analysis is done by using ETAP software, power word simulator and MATLAB.

This gives a chance to evaluate performance, safety, efficiency, reliability and economics of power delivery system. It covers load flow, optimal power flow, short circuit analysis and transient stability analysis for a.c. and d.c systems.

7. Control & Instrumentation Lab.

Control & Instrumentation Lab Of Electrical & Electronics Engg. Department is well equipped with different types of Trainer Kits to perform Various Experiments e.g. Speed control of AC & DC motors, Servo motors, CRTs to view the wave forms and calculate the Various parameters of Experiment.
